1. Windows 8 Product Key is Embedded in UEFI

In Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, Pro Microsoft is using UEFI firmware. It is more secure than BIOS. So, if you buy a PC with pre-installed Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, the product key will be encrypted in their UEFI system.

When you reinstall the same version the UEFI automatically configure the already existent Windows 8 Product key. However, it only applies if you are reinstalling the same Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on a PC.

If you download different Windows 8 edition or want Windows 10 upgrade then you wont be able to enjoy this facility. Anyhow if your Windows get corrupt and you need a clean reinstall then UEFI firmware will help you.

2. Find Windows 8 Product Key Via Registry

If you want to right down your Windows 8 key then follow these steps;

  1. Press Windows + R key to open run dialog box.
  2. Type “regedit” and press enter. This will open Windows registry.
  3. Find Currentversion from the left list or you can directly enter this path Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  4. Here you will see “ProductId,” file right click on it and select “Modify.
  5. Note down the 25 digit number this is you Windows 8 Product Key.

3. Use Third Party Product Key Finder Utility

You cannot find Windows 8 Product Key easily because it is hidden in a place that normal users don’t know. In order to reveal Windows 8.1, you can download third-party product key finder apps.
